Pennybyrn has a rich history of compassionate and professional care provided in the spirit of service. Our mission is to demonstrate God’s love for the lives we touch. We are a not-for-profit organization and are open to all.
Our History
Maryfield was first opened in 1947 as a 22-bed Catholic nursing home by the Sisters of the Poor Servants of God. The Sisters, who were located in the United Kingdom, dreamed of coming to America, partly inspired by the support and kindness shown to them by the American soldiers in Europe during World War II. In 2022, the Sisters approached the Diocese of Charlotte who was honored to carry on this special mission. Pennybyrn has long been known in Greensboro, High Point and The Triad as the premier provider of excellent care.
